    Renwable Energy Consumer Code

    The Renewable Energy Consumer Code was set up by the Renewable Energy Association. Our aim is to guarantee a high quality experience for consumers wishing to buy or lease small-scale energy generation systems for their homes. The Renewable Energy Consumer Code logo is a sign that the company has agreed to abide by the high standards set out in our Consumer Code.

    This Code is backed by Trading Standards Institute as part of its self-regulation initiative, the Consumer Codes Approval Scheme


  • Gas Safe

    Gas Safe

    Gas Safe Register is the official gas registration body for the United Kingdom, Isle of Man and Guernsey, appointed by the relevant Health and Safety Authority for each area. By law all gas engineers must be on the Gas Safe Register.

    Gas Safe Register replaced CORGI as the gas registration body in Great Britain and Isle of Man on 1 April 2009 and Northern Ireland and Guernsey on 1 April 2010. The main focus of the Register is on improving and maintaining gas safety to the highest standards. We make sure all gas engineers on the Register, over 120,000, are qualified to work with gas.

    SELECT is the trade association for the electrical contracting industry in Scotland. Founded in 1900 as The Electrical Contractors' Association of Scotland, SELECT became the first trade association in the world to serve the electrical industry.

    Every SELECT Member undergoes a rigorous technical assessment on a regular basis. This helps to ensure that the work a Member company carries out is safe and installed to recognized industry standards.

    All work carried out by SELECT Members is required to comply with relevant British and European Standards, the Building Standards (Scotland) Regulations and other relevant regulations, including Health & Safety legislation.

    ELECSA provides inspection, assessment and certification services to contractors working across the building services sectors.

    Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) for those contractors installing renewable technologies

    ELECSA operates competent person schemes on behalf of government to ensure that the contractors you employ are technically competent to carry the work you want. We assess contractors across the building services sector including electrical (Part P), heating & hot water, solid fuel and oil.

    We also assess contractors under the Green Deal and MCS schemes for homeowners looking to install energy efficient measures or renewable energy technologies.

    Contractors registered by NICEIC are assessed on a regular basis t ensure that they are competent and capable of meeting the relevant technical and safety standards, codes of practice and rules of the schemes they are registered to.

    NICEIC expect all registered contractors to provide a quality service to their customers. Platinum promise means that if you are not happy with the work that is done by an NICEIC registered contractor and we agree that it is deficient we will help to put it right.

    Microgeneration Certification Scheme

    Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is a nationally recognised quality assurance scheme, supported by the Department of Energy and Climate Change. MCS certifies microgeneration technologies used to produce electricity and heat from renewable sources.

    MCS is also an eligibility requirement for the Government's financial incentives, which include the Feed-in Tariff and the Renewable Heat Incentive.

    Confederation of Aerial Industriese

    We concentrate on raising standards in our trade through the recognised mandatory codes of practice which are viewed by government and broadcasting as best practice in our industry. We have developed an extensive hands-on education and skills programme that trains installers how to attain those standards.

    Formed in 1978 the Confederation are different from most trade bodies in that applicants for membership have to undergo an assessment to check they can achieve compliance to the CAI’s codes of practice & conduct which are recognised by broadcasters and government. By choosing a CAI member to advise or complete the work you require you are assured of competence & compliance.

    Perth & Kinross - Better Business Partnership

    The Better Business Partnership (BBP) is the trusted trader scheme operating in Perth and Kinross. The aim is to help traders comply with the law while improving consumer protection through a partnership approach.

    The scheme offers several benefits to choosing a member:

    Each member has pledged to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and to operate a customer complaints procedure, dealing with complaints promptly, fairly and in a courteous manner.

    Complaints which cannot be resolved easily can be passed to the Better Business Partnership independent panel for review and mediation where practicable.

    Members who continue to breach the rules of the scheme regarding fair trading will be expelled from the Partnership.

    Members will have disclosed full address details to Trading Standards - these will be released in the event of a civil dispute, allowing a civil action to be raised without the worry of identifying the trader - a common problem with 'bogus traders'

    Members must, where appropriate i) provide details of any call out charges, ii) provide written quotations & schedules of work and iii) provide signed, itemised invoices.
