THE HISTORY OF RW BELL

Founded in 1947 by Robbie Bell initially as Radio Engineers, RW Bell have been providing Highland Perthshire and beyond with Electrical Maintenance and Contracting Services for over 60 years.  Current directors Stephen Carruthers and Alan Smith have more than 50 years combined experience in the electrical industry since commencing their careers as apprentices with the Company in the 1980’s. Stephen’s father Ford was Robbie’s first employee in 1949 and was later joined by Norrie West and Jimmy Kennedy who together grew RW Bell to be one of the largest and most respected Electrical Contractors in Perthshire.

In 2005 we added a Joinery department to compliment our core electrical business and provide a Highland Perthshire based small works and maintenance joinery service. Our Plumbing and Heating department was established in 2011 and at the same time we introduced our Renewables department which offers energy saving and renewable energy solutions to domestic and commercial customers. Within our Electrical department we have operatives skilled in Audio Visual works such as Satellite, TV and Data installations

We currently have a staff of 25 operatives all drawn from the local area with the majority of them having served their apprenticeships with RW Bell.  Training has been an integral part of our success and we have both in-house and external training for all our staff. This ensures that all our work is fully compliant with all current Regulations and good practise.

In 2006 we received the Scottish Electrotechnical Training Award in recognition of our success in training apprentices. Our confidence in our service is reinforced by our third party approvals such as SELECT, NICEIC, CAI, BSi, Gas Safe, REA, MCS, OFTEC and Constructionline.

Since 1947 we have provided a full range of electrical services and now offer a comprehensive range of “Building Services” solutions delivered to a high quality using experienced, fully qualified tradesmen.
